The Moorings base is located in the northern part of the Kingdom of Tonga

Airport
Guests may fly into Fuamotu Airport on Tongatapu (TBU), then to Lupepa'u
Airport (VAV) in Vava'u via Peau Vava'u Airlines.

Customs / Immigration
A VALID PASSPORT IS REQUIRED ON ALL MOORINGS VACATIONS Expiration date
must be no earlier than 6 months after your planned return. Please visit

 Taxes / Departure
Taxes
The airport departure tax is TOP (Paíanga) $25. Exempt are 24 hour
transit passengers & children under the age of 12 years.
Servicing Airlines
Air New Zealand www.airnewzealand.com
flies from Los Angeles to Tonga and from Auckland to Tonga. Polynesian
Airlines www.polynesianairlines.com
flies from Los Angeles to Samoa to Vava'u. Also flies from Sydney to Tonga
Tapu once a week.
Domestic Airlines
Peau Vavaíu are flying twice a day on daily bases except Sundays.

Duty Free
Your personal concession allows you to bring into Tonga free of duty the
following manufactured tobacco including cigars & cigarettes not exceeding
500 grams aggregate (500 cigarettes) for persons over the age of 16 years
- 2.25 litres of potable spirits
- OR 4.5 litres of wine
- OR 4.5 litres of beer, ale, stout or porter for persons above the
age of 18 years.
Car Rental
Car rental companies are available in Tonga for around TOP$70/day.
Ferry Service
Not recommended.
Transfers
Transfers from the airport to the base are not included. Roundtrip airport
transfers (airport/base) can be purchased in advance. Please contact your
Moorings office for booking and price.
Late Arrival
Procedures Late arrivals are still picked up by the Paradise Hotel bus
that goes out to meet each flight. The base staff remains at the base
until the clients arrive. They give the client the option to either go
ahead with the boat and chart briefing or just the boat briefing that
evening and the chart briefing in the morning.
Credit Card facilities
The Moorings base has the credit card facilities for MasterCard, Visa
card, American Express and Diners Club. There is 2 ATM working 24/7 in
Neiafu (ANZ & Westpac bank). But we advise clients to take cash with
them, as very few shops & restaurants have credit card machines in
Vava'u.
Re-fuelling & watering
Is to be done at the base in Neiafu between the hours of 8.30am and 3.00pm
(Monday to Saturday). Please make contact with the base either the night
before or early morning to book space on the docks. The Moorings have
allocated moorings. At any time should you require a swing mooring to
base yourself in the harbour, please make contact with the base beforehand
to book and it will be at your disposal completely free.
